Polyethylene terephthalate is a polymer material that is most used for fiber production that is used in the textile industry and then it’s called polyester.
When it’s used for producing disposable packaging (mostly food or non-alcoholic beverages, water, and dairy products) it’s called PET (Polyethylene terephthalate).
Glass packaging was more than a thousand years perfect solution for fluid storage. However, the modern age requires cheaper packaging, which is easily transported and is larger in volume. That led to the development of plastic, especially PET packaging.
